Photoshop vs. Paint
clientsfromhell: “I understand that you prefer to use photoshop, but we don’t feel like that program is universal enough. If you could do all of the design work in Microsoft Paint it would be easier for us to edit what you do and give you an idea of the changes we want.”

The Five Stages of Lady Gaga
Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Let Gaga Be Great 1. Denial- This isn’t happening. She’s not real. “Just Dance” has to be a forgery. She has to be sampling. Oh, I know, this is a cover. No? It’s all her? She writes her own songs? Plays the piano? Actually sings? I refuse to believe this. Believing this would mean believing some girl in her early twenties isn’t your run-of-the-mill Piano...

clientsfromhell: A client wanted a website for their internal stock management system. He was really all over the show in terms of what the site should do and was constantly adding and removing functionality and pages. So we decided to map out the whole site in black and white, interactive wireframes before we started designing the pages. That way he could see what the site could and could pick...

Writing the introduction and conclusion of a paper...
I can handle the guts, but explaining why & what I will be/was talking about is always tough. Growl.

clientsfromhell: One client wanted me to fax though the letterhead paper we had chosen. I said it wont have any texture so you wont see it. They replied ‘no, fax though the paper’ as if the paper would travel down the phone line and re-materialize at the other end. I love that people like this exist.

Professor Jared Returns!
jaredm: Good news, folks.  Starting in January I’ll be back in the classroom (ahem, computer lab) teaching part-time at the Art Institute of Portland.  I’m teaching CSS, the next step in the sequence I taught last spring. I need a challenge.  Gimme! And with this news, the professor beard must also make its return ;) If I had the dollars to spare I would register for this class. But...
